Summer Double Page Layout

Image
After having such a fun day at the beach capturing this gorgeous photo of Seb and Charli, I had a plan to create a double page layout. My first port of call was Pinterest, where I found this sketch: http://sketchsavvy.blogspot.com/2010/06/ The sketch was really helpful in kick starting the layout, but I adjusted it as I need to, to make it work for me. I knew I wanted to use the Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Hello Sunshine" collections, but I didn't have enough of the right 12"x12" sheets for the background. I found this green wash woodgrain paper (the b side of Shabby Chic) in my stash which is from an older Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection called "Free Spirit", which worked really well. I followed the sketch reasonably closely for the laying paper, that I also machine stitched and distressed the edges. I created the banners using a die cut, that I cut with my manual die cutting machine and machine stitched along the top for added texture. The em

You are my World

This layout come together so quickly for me and was really fun to create. The cut file is from Cut to You  and was one of the first Kit to You releases, meaning you not only receive the cut file, but also in depth instructions on how create the layout. The base paper of the layout is called Natural Beauty and I used watered down white acrylic paint to splatter on the background. I felt like this gorgeous woodgrain paper would balance out the rest of the somewhat feminine elements. I re

Scrap the Boys Design Team - February Challenge

This months Scrap the Boys challenge I found, well challenging! When I first saw this challenge poster, my mind immediately focused on the woodgrain which I love. However, beyond that I was a bit stumped. It wasn't until I scrolled back through my photos and found a picture of Seb from 3 years ago playing in flour. I think the combination of the woodgrain floorboards in the photo and element of play sparked my creativity. For this layout I bought together two Cocoa Vanilla Studio boy collections, Boys Rule and You Rock. I started with that perfect woodgrain paper (which is the  B side of the Plus One paper), this was the last piece in my stash, so I wanted to make it the highlight of the layout. I used the B side of the Random paper as the base. I took a strip of the This Way paper (as that is all I had left) and distressed the edges with a distressing tool. I then layed strips of the dark blue side of the Expressionist paper either side. I created ruffles using tissue pa
